Not long to go now before pumpkins are in every window and little kids with scary faces are demanding money from house owners all over the nation! We are, of course, talking about the night of October 31- Halloween. It’s a night loved by millions of people and a night that has become one of the nations major festivals. So what’s it all about?
Halloween comes from All-hallow-even, the eve of “All Hallows’ Day”, which was a day of pagan festivities in northern Europe. It was felt that Halloween is when spirits can make contact with the physical world, and when magic is most potent!
Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, Halloween festivals, bonfires, costume parties, visiting “haunted houses” and viewing horror films!Although the festival originated in Europe It became big in North America in the nineteenth century. It took until the late twentieth century before it was exported back to the Old world!. Halloween is now celebrated in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom.
None of which matters to the most important people involved- kids! It’s a great excuse for a good time, but you’ve got to have the right preparations- and that means masks and costumes. We found a great site to get stuff for our kids with loads more than just the ghoul faces. Fancy some great costumes and faces like Shrek, Superman, Harry Potter, Batman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, V for Vendetta, Star Wars.Plus all the Halloween decorations and accessories you could want! Check them out and have a great time!
